Card search ideas

Use a set, grade, parallel, or card type with a player name to get a smaller result.

Compare card listings

  • Compare the seller price, supplied shipping cost, condition, grader, and grade.
  • Use the card page to keep the same card identity and grade together.
  • Open the source marketplace to check the current price, seller terms, and availability.
  • An unknown shipping cost stays unknown. CardHunt does not use it as free shipping.

Build a useful card search

Start with the player or character name. Add the year or set when the first result has too many cards.

Add the card number when you know it. The card number helps CardHunt tell apart cards with almost the same name.

Add the grader and grade for a graded card. A raw card and a graded card do not have the same price basis.

Use a parallel name when color or print type is important. A standard card can have a different value from a parallel.

Remove a word when a search has no result. Marketplace titles do not always use the same words as a card catalog.

Understand a card result

A card result can contain one or more current listings. Each listing stays connected to its source marketplace.

CardHunt groups raw and graded listings only when the card identity agrees. CardHunt compares prices for each grade.

The lowest seller price is not always the lowest total price. Check the supplied shipping cost before you compare listings.

A listing can change after CardHunt sees it. Open the source marketplace and check the price before you buy.

CardHunt can show a card image from a listing. Check the source listing to make sure that the image agrees with the title.

Use price information carefully

A current listing price is a seller price. It does not show that a buyer paid that price.

A completed sale gives more price information, but condition, grade, parallel, and seller terms can change the result.

Compare cards with the same identity and grade. A price from a different card or grade can give an incorrect result.

CardHunt keeps each unknown shipping cost by itself. It does not use an unknown cost to find the lowest total price.

Some price records are not recent when a marketplace does not supply new data. Check the date and source before a decision.
